My own therapy is painting, and honestly I haven’t tended to the creative side of myself much in the last year. As news of the world around me grew more grim, I found myself having to paint. Like a dam that broke, after too much singular time and focus on my private practice…. I bought 5 large canvases, spread them out in my garage, turned on music and let go.
I didn’t know where these works would go, but I had the idea that I would turn uplifting words into Rorschach inkblots…and let viewers decipher what the work said. Of course, I know what each painting says and they bring me comfort and make me smile. Good therapy!
If these heavy times are weighing on you, I hope you can find comfort in your creative expression. Whether you’re a baker, singer, gardener, quilter, decorator, writer, dancer….let go and do your thing! You’ll feel better!
